Highlights From LISA's 31st Annual Life Settlement Conference
LISA hosted the 31st Annual Life Settlement Conference in New York City on October 16, 2025, and what an inspiring experience it was! Industry leaders and professionals gathered for dynamic discussions and powerful networking opportunities, exchanging fresh ideas on how to expand awareness and drive growth in the life settlement market. From innovative marketing strategies to important insights into the market and legal landscape, every session offered valuable takeaways for industry stakeholders, consumers, and investors alike.
A highlight of this year's event was the special screening of "Cashing Out," now available on the New Yorker website. The thought-provoking LISA-supported documentary traces our industry's origins to the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, when viatical settlements provided crucial support to vulnerable communities.
We were also honored to present the 2025 Alan H. Buerger Leadership Award to Christopher Conway, Principal and Chief Development Officer at ISC Services, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the industry. Join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved honor!
Our programming featured a full day of thought-provoking panels and presentations, beginning with sessions on changing perspectives in the life settlement industry, which focused on educating the general public on life settlements and highlighted LISA's efforts with media outreach. This session was followed by panels on industry awareness with leading market participants, and an insightful market overview addressing key legal considerations for the industry. Attendees also benefited from in-depth discussions on best practices in lead generation and advertising compliance, including the latest strategies to mitigate risk in today's environment. The agenda closed with a comprehensive Member Meeting covering strategic activities and stakeholder education, ensuring members are equipped with updates and tools for continued success.
During the Member Meeting, we welcomed three new life settlement professionals to LISA's Board of Directors: Taylor Garvey of AIR Asset Management, Clay Gibson of TreyLed Life Settlements, and James Westerlind of ArentFox Schiff. We look forward to adding their leadership and vision to the Board as we continue to support and drive the industry forward.
A huge thank you to our outstanding speakers and generous sponsors—Abacus Life, ArentFox Schiff LLP, Coventry, Fifth Season Investments, Life Insurance Settlements, Inc., Longevity Holdings, Preston Capital, Trey Led Life Settlements, and Wilmington Trust—for making this event possible.
