Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA) Announces 2022 Alan H. Buerger Award Winners

ATLANTA, Ga., Oct. 3, 2022 — The Life Insurance Settlement Association (LISA), the nation’s oldest and largest organization representing the life settlement industry, has awarded the Alan H. Buerger (AHB) Leadership Award to Brian Casey and M. Bryan Freeman.

The AHB Leadership award honors industry leaders who have made significant contributions to support the development and growth of LISA and the life settlement marketplace.

Mr. Casey, a partner at the law firm Locke Lord LLP and Co-Chair of their Insurance Regulatory and Transactional practice group, is a current LISA Board member and former Secretary/Treasurer of the organization. Mr. Casey’s counsel has been an asset to both LISA and life settlement industry participants for over two decades.

Mr. Freeman, the founder, President, and Managing Member of Habersham Funding, is a life settlement industry pioneer and former four-term LISA President. Mr. Freeman’s role in advocating on behalf of the industry before organization’s like NCOIL and NAIC was vital to the industry’s growth.

LISA’s Board of Directors renamed its Industry Leadership Award to the Alan H. Buerger Leadership award in 2022, in honor of the Coventry co-founder and Executive Chairman and former Chairman of LISA. Buerger was the winner of the LISA Leadership Award in 2021.
