Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
Any LISA Corporate or Sponsor member can form a Special Interest Group (SIG). The SIG objectives are to develop greater industry awareness about business issues, technologies, standards and best practices.

Terminology SIG

The LISA Terminology Special Interest Group comprises a group of terminologists who work together to promote terminology management as an essential part of the product development and localization process. The SIG’s goals are to:
- Provide industry-specific guidelines on terminology management
- Educate LISA members about the role of terminology in the GILT process
- Represent users of terminology standards and tools
- Determine and promote the economic value of managing terminology.
OSCAR (Standards)

OSCAR (Open Standards for Container/content Allowing Reuse) is LISA’s open standards body for the translation and localization industry. OSCAR’s goals are:
- Development of free and open standards to:
- support the localization and translation industries,
- promote the freedom of organizations to reuse their language-related information with multiple partners and technical solutions, and
- help organizations better achieve their business goals with standard technical solutions.
- Promote collaboration between all industry sectors to ensure that standards meet and support a broad range of needs.
- Promotion of standards-based solutions (including the certification of standards-based products and processes) to meet business and technical needs in international business.
- Partnership with other standards organizations to ensure that the needs of organizations operating internationally are met in the standards produced by those groups.
