The Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA)
Founded in 1990 as a non-profit association, LISA is the premier organization for the GILT (Globalization, Internationalization, Localization and Translation) business communities. Today LISA members comprise 200 companies employing over 400,000 people in 65 countries. LISA provides best practice, business guidelines and multi-lingual communications standards for translation and localization workflow and enterprise globalization. LISA initiatives, conferences and training programs help companies implement cost-effective international business models.

SMP Marketing Sarl
SMP, a LISA licensed spin-off company since 2000, is responsible for the association's marketing and industry promotion as well as the management of LISA's worldwide events and training programs as well as the publication of the LISA Globalization Insider Newsletter. SMP is an independent Marketing Consulting firm focusing on the GILT sector worldwide.

WHY WE BUILT IT

As early as 1998, LISA became aware of the need to provide a repository of information for companies seeking to benchmark against their peers and locate GILT services and guidelines for their implementation. In 2000, SMP started designing The MAP technology. The MAP's objective is to leverage LISA's access to key industry players and the information they are willing to share about themselves and the GILT business. SMP developed The MAP to work in parallel with the wide range of information found on the LISA website. Both The MAP and the LISA website provide data from experienced industry clients and services companies, as well as new players in the GILT business. The MAP and the LISA Website offer visitors ways to expand their knowledge, stay on top of trends and keep abreast of the activities of global companies.
