In an effort to better inform the public about technology offerings in the GILT environment, LISA is releasing an independent product review of STAR Proactive GMS. In January Christian Sestier traveled to Böblingen, Germany and tried out a beta version of STAR Proactive GMS provided by STAR Technology & Solutions (a public release of the software is scheduled for release in March 2003). Chrstian used the software to set up a sample localization-workflow for HTML files and tested the product on sample files he provided.

The report provides a unique independent analysis of a product in the highly competitive GMS market, and sets the model for planned independent reviews of other GILT products. In particular the report examines the following aspects of Proactive:

• What are Proactive's capabilities?
• What are Proactive's strengths and weaknesses?
• How does Proactive work in practice?

By focusing on an implementation scenario based on real-world experience in the GILT environment, LISA Product Evaluations: STAR Proactive GMS 2.0 provides a useful and insightful look at how GMS implementation works in practice.
