Java Software Development in a Global Economy
As companies around the world become more reliant on software to drive their business, the processes and practices of software development continue to mature. Part of that growing maturity is driven by the efforts of many companies to become more global in nature. For these companies, a software application that only works with one country's data or users is unacceptable. A software developer locking himself in a closet with a computer, some requirements, and a bit of sample data isn't good enough anymore; today's developer needs to be conscious of his company's efforts to go global, and needs to know how to implement those desires in his or her software. With Java, that support is built into the language, yet most experienced Java developers lack the knowledge to fully exploit that functionality. After reading this article you'll have a better understanding of what's out there for Java i18n support. ![]() The remainder of this article is available only to LISA members and Newsletter subscribers.
