The 1995 LISA General Assembly Meeting

The meeting plan is underway. The date is April 3, 1995. The invitation, venue and agenda will be communicated electronically to the General Assembly in February 1995. The order of business, suggested topics and discussion items are open at this time to all General Assembly members. Please send your recommendations via fax or email before January 30, 1995 to Michael Anobile at LISA Administration in Geneva.

The LISA Forum Activity Plan

A minimum of three forums will be held during 1995. Potential regional venues include Europe, the United States, Asia and Central Europe. Final venues will be announced to all members well in advance of each Forum. Considerations for host companies and specific locations remain open.

The LISA Forum programmes will concentrate on localization business issues and controversial topics aimed at the supply and demand sides of the industry. The Forums will remain small, involve senior management participation, and emphasize SIGs, member deliverables and, whenever applicable, work sessions.

Miscellaneous Business

In an effort to distinguish the LISA Forum from several industry-wide conferences now addressing localization topics, the Executive Committee recommended that the LISA director resign his Advisory Board Member position for the Globalizing Software Conference held in conjunction with Software Development, a conference produced and managed by Communications Events Inc. The conference organizers will be asked to refrain from using the LISA name and the name of its director in any marketing or promotional materials.

On a related issue, the Executive Committee recommended that the LISA director maintain his involvement with the ITALICS 95 Conference and Exhibition on Global Business Communication, due to the pan-industry emphasis and the programme's focus on the business aspects of multilingual documentation, language processing technologies and applications. The event is considered to have potential value to all members, especially service vendors and language technology product developers. The LISA director is a member of the ITALICS programme committee and board of directors.
