Vice President, Canadian Government Translation Bureau

As Vice-President, Professional Services within the Canadian Government Translation Bureau, Donald Barabé is responsible for the delivery of translation and localization services to the various departments and agencies of the federal government. He also represents the Translation Bureau in dealings with language industry stakeholders both nationally and internationally. In the past several years, he has appeared before a variety of associations and groups of translators and localizers in Canada and abroad to speak on the language profession and industry.
Joachim Van den Bogaert

Joachim Van den Bogaert works as a researcher at the Centre for Computational Linguistics, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, where he develops a parse and corpus based Machine Translation engine and writes a Ph.D. about translation modeling using large treebanks. He is also an MT consultant at Cross Language, specializing in customizing statistical MT engines, developing customization and evaluation methodologies, and systems integration.

Dr. Yueyun (Bill) Chen
Chair and Professor, University of the West

Dr. Yueyun (Bill) Chen is the Chair and Professor of the Department of Business Administration at the University of the West (UWest). He is also the Director of the Center for the Study of Minority and Small Business and the Editor of the Minority and Small Business Review at UWest.
Dr. Chen received his Ph. D. with specialization in Finance and M. A. in Economics both from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and he also received his Master’s degree with specialization in Management/Marketing from Tianjin University, China, and B. S. in Mathematics/Statistics from Hongzhou University, China.
Dr. Chen has focused his research on Finance, Insurance, Economics, International Business and Small Business Management. He has published papers in these fields in academic journals and presented his research findings in national and international conferences. With nine years of experience in the industry, Lydia has successfully localized a wide variety of software, web, multimedia, documentation, and search projects. Lydia holds a BA from Cornell University with additional concentrations in Latin American studies and international relations.
Patricia Egan
Conference Co-Chair, Instructor, Technical Communication, University of California at Berkeley Extension

Patricia Egan, M.S., has worked in technical and financial communications since 1992, following a career in fundraising in New York City at Columbia Business School, The Museum of Modern Art, New York Botanical Garden, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is a member of the Society for Technical Communication, SOX Institute, and Information Architecture Institute, and has participated in LISA Forums at the Lessius Hogeschool and in Dublin and San Francisco. Her interests in international communication emanate from her lifelong study of Esperanto and service on the board of directors of the Universala Esperanto-Asocio/New York, a nongovernmental organization in consultative relations with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Since 2004, she has been an instructor in technical communication at the University of California Berkeley Extension. Her research interests include the value of technical editing, technical communication for international audiences, and the intersections between art and technology. Her current work involves the role of documentation in regulatory compliance. She received her master of science degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology and her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mari D. González
Consultant, University of the Pacific, School of International Studies

Mari earned a B.A. in Education and Social Sciences from the National Pedagogy University (Universidad Pedagógica Nacional) in Jalisco, México, her native country in 1988, and graduated with honors at Holy Names University in Oakland, California in 2004. She majored in Business Management and Communications. She is currently finishing a graduate program on Intercultural Relations with the University of the Pacific, School of International Studies. Her research interest is on Latino/Hispanic Americans as consumers; Language and Culture in digital advertisement; acculturation and globalization. She will complete the program by December, 2009.
In 2004, she founded IXMATI intercultural communications, a consulting firm that provides marketing and outreach strategies, cross-cultural market research, and training. IXMATI helped companies and organizations such as, John Muir Medical Center, The Contra Costa Times and The City of Concord to better understand the Latino/Hispanic consumer.
Prior to establishing IXMATI, Ms. González managed successful public education campaigns and marketing strategies in Northern California. She received the Schiku Weininger Memorial Award for designing a highly effective Latino/Hispanic outreach program and was nominated for the City of Concord Human Relations Commission’s annual award for her exemplary work in the community.
She is currently a consultant with the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) at Georgetown University and member of the Young Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR) US and Interculturalidad y Diversidad (Intercultural and Diversity) forums. She continues to be actively involved with the Latino/Hispanic community by teaching ESL classes and providing interpretation.
Lenny Hanson

Lenny Hanson, a cultural anthropologist specialized in issues that impact business, has worked in Asia, North America and Europe. She was Professor of Multicultural Management at France’s L’Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees where she co-founded an international MBA with a strong cross cultural component. At INSEAD she researched in the areas of organizational dynamics in multinational organizations. She managed global alliances as Director of global technology partnerships for Visa International. She advises organizations and executives on navigating the global world specializing in business development, global marketing and international alliance issues. Based in San Francisco, she is bi-lingual and has both US and EU passports.
Prof. Miguel A. Jimenez-Crespo
Assistant Professor in Translation and Interpreting and Coordinator of the T/I Program, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey

Miguel A. Jimenez-Crespo is originally from Spain and is currently an assistant professor in Translation and Interpreting and coordinator of the T/I program at Rutgers University. Miguel has a Ph.D. in Translation and Interpreting Studies from the University of Granada, and he has accumulated a sensible amount of teaching and academic experience in North Carolina.
He has taught localization at Wake Forest University, USA, and has been teaching at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington since 2003. He is a certified Translator by the American Translator Association. He received a BA and MA, [Licenciatura] in Translating and Interpreting studies from the University of Granada and Moscow State Linguistic University, where he also taught Spanish language and Translation. His research concentrated on the web localization process and the impact of this differentiated process in the localized text. His research has been published in the International Journal of Localization.
Holly Karmanocky
Senior Manager, Apple

Holly Karmanocky is Senior Manager of the iTunes Store Globalization team. She leads the international roll out and localization of the iTunes and App Stores on the iPhone, iPod Touch, desktop and Apple TV platforms. In the 7 years prior, Holly was part of Apple's marketing communications organization in the role of International Manager for apple.com. Before joining Apple in 1999, Holly made use of her international expertise and editorial skills at IBM and as an editor in Tokyo.
Holly also specializes in international technology center development and has overseen establishment of centers in Sao Paolo and Recife, Brazil, as well as set up of a school in Sarajevo. On the creative side, Holly is Executive Producer of LOR, the Sundance Online acclaimed animated short, and founded the San Francisco and New York based creative consultancy DogDayDesign.
Holly holds her BA from SUNY Binghamton and has done extended studies at Temple University, Tokyo campus and Columbia University in NYC.

Dr. Hendrik Kockaert

Hendrik J. Kockaert [PhD, Johannesburg] is a Senior Lecturer of Second Language Acquisition [French], Terminology, Medical Translation, Legal Translation, and Translation Technology at Lessius University College in Antwerp, Belgium. He is a Visiting Professor of Terminology and Translation Technology at the Universidad de Granada, and is a nominated expert for ISO/TC 37/SC 1/ WG 1 & WG 2. He is also the convener for WG 5: Guidelines for applying UML notation in terminology work [ISO 24156]. He is the Administrative Editor & and member of the Editorial Board for JIAL, the Journal of Internationalization and Localization, a new peer reviewed journal in co-operation with LISA, Fachhochschule Köln, Kent State University, Brigham Young University and Lessius University College.
He has presented papers on terminology standardization, concept modelling in terminology, legal translation, and translation evaluation. He develops a translation quality assurance software tool in co-operation with Palex Languages & Software, Tomsk, Russia.
Prof. Michel Laguerre
Director, University of California, Berkeley Center for Globalization and Information Technology

After completing high school at the Petit Seminaire College St Martial in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Michel S. Laguerre immigrated to Canada where he graduated with a BA in philosophy from the University of Quebec. He later earned a PhD in social anthropology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Previously he taught at Loyola University in New Orleans, Temple University in Philadelphia, and came to Berkeley from Fordham University's Department of Sociology where he held a visiting professorship for a year while completing a book project on Caribbean immigration to New York City. He has been teaching at Berkeley since 1978 and from 2000 on he has been serving as the director of the Berkeley Center for Globalization and Information Technology at the Institute of Governmental Studies. His areas of interest and expertise include diaspora politics, network governance, information technology, global metropolitan studies, island studies, and transnational parliaments.
Robert E. Levin

Robert E. Levin is is an American born entrepreneur, best-selling and renowned author of the first biography of President Bill Clinton, Professor of Finance at Columbia University, advisor to the National Geographic Society and contributing member of the World Economic Forum.
He began his career working with his family's firm as a trader and senior analyst. At the time the family firm, Chilewich Corporation was number 53 on Forbes' list of 500 privately held U.S. corporations. He was trained in Institutional Sales and Trading at Salomon Brothers and worked as a macro strategist for Paul Tudor Jones and Louis Moore Bacon, two of the world’s leading hedge funds with over $30 billion under management. In the early 1990's he served as a Director for ViaTel, a value-added telephony services provider, from inception to IPO. In the late 1990s, Levin served as a strategist and asset allocator for the Fix Family Office multi-billion dollar hedge funds and Sir John Templeton’s fund of hedge funds.
Levin also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Transclick--the leading mobile messaging company offering real-time language translation of instant messaging, email, SMS and text to/from 20 languages.
He led the company through multiple rounds of seed and early stage financing, sold to early critical reference accounts including the US Army, IBM-NATO, the USDA and the US House of Representatives. He also negotiated strategic alliances with Research In Motion & Nokia.
He was selected by the World Economic Forum as a Technology Pioneer 2008 and attended their annual forums in Davos and Tianjin, China. Under his leadership, Transclick won several awards including RIM BlackBerry’s award for Best Business Productivity Application and CTIA Wireless Association’s 1st place e-tech award for emerging technology in Enterprise Solutions.
Transclick’s investors include Time Equities and a member of the French Rothschild Family. He has also served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance at the Columbia Business School and former Adjunct Professor of Political Economy at Columbia's SIPA.
He is the inventor of one issued patent for connecting machine translation servers, customized micro glossaries and collaboration servers.
Levin's community activities are focused on supporting AIPAC, as well as public education regarding the global water crisis, as a member of the World Economic Forum and the Board of Trustees of the Water Discovery Center. He is a member of the TED Community (Technology, Entertainment, Design), attending TED Global in Africa in 2007 and Oxford, this Summer, and has been an active Corporate Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Japan Society.
Levin received an MBA in Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business and a Masters in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, and studied art history and political science at the University of Bordeaux. He is fluent in French.

Guðrun Magnusdottir is a co-founder and CEO of ESTeam AB, that is currently working on the largest language technology contract awarded by the EU organisations. She is also engaged in EU research initiatives to produce a translation software for the future.
Filip Majcen
Director, European Commission Directorate - General for Translation (DGT)

Filip Majcen, a director in the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation, is responsible for the Transversal Linguistic Services, consisting of editing, web translation, field offices, library and terminology coordination units. Prior to being appointed to this post in 2007, he held management positions in some of the world's leading financial institutions, most recently as head of business development for HSBC Securities Services in Luxembourg. He studied international economic relations and international finance at the University of Ljubljana, graduating in 1989.
Aaron Marcus
Founder and President, Aaron Marcus and Associates

Mr. Marcus is the founder and President of Aaron Marcus and Associates, Inc. (AM+A). A graduate in physics from Princeton University and in graphic design from Yale University, in 1967 he became the world's first graphic designer to be involved fulltime in computer graphics. In the 1970s he programmed a prototype desktop publishing page layout application for the Picturephone (tm) at AT&T Bell Labs, programmed virtual reality spaces while a faculty member at Princeton University, and directed an international team of visual communicators as a Research Fellow at the East-West Center in Honolulu. In the early 1980s he was a Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in Berkeley, founded AM+A, and began research as a Co-Principal Investigator of a project funded by the US Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). He was the keynote speaker for ACM/SIGGRAPH 1980, the organizer and chair of the opening plenary panel for ACM/SIGCHI 1999, and the closing keynote plenary speaker for UPA 2005, the Usability Professional's Association's annual conference.
In 1992, he received the National Computer Graphics Association's annual award for contributions to industry. In 2007, he was named an AIGA Fellow by the AIGA Cross-Cultural Design Center. In 2008, he was elected to ACM's CHI Academy. In 2009 he was awarded the Jo Warner Prize by the Business Forms Management Association for his lifetime contribution to forms systems/design profession.In 2009, the Usability Professionals Association awarded him a service award for his six years' of being the Editor-in-Chief of User Experience (UX). He is also Editor of Information Design Journal, and was a regular columnist of Interactions for five years. He is on the Editorial Boards of Visible Language, Universal Access Journal, and the International Journal of Human-Computer Interaction.
Mr. Marcus has written over 250 articles; written/co-written six books, including (with Ron Baecker) Human Factors and Typography for More Readable Programs (1990), Graphic Design for Electronic Documents and User Interfaces (1992), The Cross-GUI Handbook for Multiplatform User Interface Design (1994), and Mobile TV: Customizing Content and Experience; and contributed chapters/case studies to five handbooks of user-interface design, information appliances, and culture. Mr. Marcus focuses his attention on the Web and wireless communication, mobile devices, helping the industry to learn about good user-interface and information-visualization design, providing guidelines for globalization/localization, the challenges of "baby faces" (small displays for consumer information appliances) of ubiquitous devices, and cross-cultural communication. Mr. Marcus has published, lectured, tutored, and consulted internationally for more than 35 years and has been an invited keynote/plenary speaker at conferences internationally. He is a visionary thinker, designer, and writer, well-respected in international professional communities, with connections throughout the Web, user interface, human factors, graphic design, and publishing industries.
Daniel Martin
Assistant Professor of Management, California State University, East Bay

Dan is an assistant professor of Management at Cal State East Bay. His areas of research interest include: Cross-Cultural Ethics, Human Resource Management, Survey Methodology, Racism and Prejudice, Assessment, Evaluation Research, Intelligence and Humor.
Dan is also co-founder and vice president of Alinea Group, a California-based firm with offices in Washington, DC and San Francisco; Alinea Group provides Industrial/Organizational Psychology and business management expertise to private and public organizations. Formerly a Research Fellow for the US Army Research Institute as well as a Personnel Research Psychologist for the US Office of Personnel Management, he has worked with a wide array of organizations in personnel selection, organizational assessment, executive coaching and workforce planning. Dan holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational/Social psychology from Howard University.

Joseph Eric Massey, Ph.D.

For the past 15 years Eric Massey has been an organizational consultant, dealing with issues like crisis management, organizational change, and integrated communication. Massey is currently a Senior Consultant at Corpen Communications, out of Calgary, Canada (http://www.corpengroup.com).
Corpen specializes in crisis communication and media training. A new area of consulting is with expats, or expatriates — people living outside their home country to work with a multinational corporation.
Massey earned his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1997, an MA from Arizona in ’92, and a BA from the University of Oklahoma in 1990. He has taught university courses for nearly 20 years, primarily in integrated marketing communications. He also teaches organization theory and research methodology courses. Massey's on-land teaching experience has been at the University of Arizona, Utah State University, the University of Texas-San Antonio, and Cal State Fullerton. He's taught online courses at University of Phoenix, Argosy University, Capella University, and National University. Her research interests include how localized websites incorporate national symbols and portray or construct national identities. She currently works as a freelance French to English translator and teaches part time at York University in Toronto, Canada.
Nic McMahon

Nic McMahon is VP Global Technology Solutions at Lionbridge and has worked in the localization industry for over 12 years. During his career Nic has been fortunate to hold management positions across many different business functions – purchasing, operations, stock, sales and marketing which provides for a unique insight into the industry. During his time in localization he has also been lucky enough to have had direct involvement in many of the major acquisitions and technology developments that have helped to shape the overall industry.
Dr. Alan Melby

Alan K. Melby was involved in machine translation in the 1970s, in translator tools in the 1980s, and in translation standards in the 1990s. His current interests include translation quality management standards, language data standards, and translation proficiency testing. He is currently director of the BYU (Brigham Young University) TRG (Translation Research Group), chair of the ATA (American Translators Association) Translation and Computers committee, member of the ATA board of directors, member of the OSCAR Steering Committee, and editor of the TBX standard.
Paul Munter
Partner in the Department of Professional Practice-Audit, KPMG

Paul Munter is a Partner in the Department of Professional Practice - Audit with KPMG. He serves as the lead technical partner and professional practice leader for the US firm’s IFRS activities and also serves on KPMG’s Global IFRS Panel which is responsible for establishing KPMG positions on the application of IFRS.
His also is involved in the development of firm positions in response to proposals from the IASB, IFRIC, FASB, SEC and other standard setters as well as the development of the firm’s guidance and publications including Comparison of IFRS to US GAAP and First Impressions: Business Combinations (joint IASB/FASB project).
He served as the Academic Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission where he worked on many of the Commission’s Sarbanes-Oxley initiatives and rule-making activities. Previously, he served as KPMG Professor and Chairman of the Department of Accounting at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He earned his PhD in accounting at the University of Colorado. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Fresno State University. He is a CPA in New York, Florida, and Colorado.
Mr. Munter was honored by the Texas Society of CPAs as its first “Outstanding Discussion Leader.” He has also been honored by the Florida Institute of CPAs as its Outstanding Educator and he was honored by Beta Alpha Psi as the National Business Information Professional of the Year.
Patricia Muñoz Tavira Ph.D-abd

After graduating in translation and interpreting from Pompeu Fabra University in 2001, she moved to Belgium and began working as a terminologist at Lessius University College while translating as a freelancer. Currently and since 2004 she combines lecturing translation, interpreting and localization subjects at the Faculty of Translation Studies of the University College Gent with research in Terminology. Involved in the development of CLP level 1 as an author as well as in its implementation as a TILP trainer, Patricia joined the Council of TILP in 2008. At the beginning of this year, she was appointed to represent World Information Transfer, NGO in consultative status with the United Nations, in Geneve and Vienna UN offices. Patricia also holds an MBA from the universities Autonomous of Barcelona, Carlos III of Madrid and Alicante.

Prof. Asha Rao
Professor, California State University, East Bay

Prof. Rao teaches business courses on a range of topics including conflict and negotiations, leadership, cross-cultural management, international human resource management, research methods and organizational behavior, in Executive MBA and MBA programs in the U.S., China, Hong Kong, Singapore and India.

A pioneer in the field of professional preparation and management of EU funded projects, she successfully manages the International Network for Terminology (http://linux.termnet.org) since 2002.
For the European Commission she acted as consultant to European eContent and 6th Framework Programmes and for the Austrian Standards Institute she is active in several committees as expert in terminology, translation and diversity management.
Gabriele Sauberer designed and performed many projects at European, regional, national and international level and developed trainings and seminars with focus on European and International topics.
Since 2007, she is teaching project management, intercultural communication and diversity management at the Centre for Translation Studies of the University of Vienna.
Ernest J. Scalberg, Ph.D.

Ernest J. Scalberg, Ph.D., has been Associate Vice President for External Programs and Dean of the Fisher Graduate School of International Business and at the Monterey Institute for International Studies since August 2001. The Fisher School has been subsequently awarded accreditation by AACSB International, and has been internationally ranked by various business media including recent listings in the Top 10 graduate programs in Entrepreneurship by Entrepreneur Magazine and Princeton Review, and in the Top 100 Global MBA Programs by both the Financial Times and Beyond Grey Pinstripes. In 2005, Dr. Scalberg created a unique research, consulting, and training Center at the Institute – the GLOBE Center -- to adapt products for foreign markets. He also expanded the Institute’s specialized non-degree programs in the areas of language training, translation and interpretation, international policy, and business. These new programs include an on-going series of credit option courses for Beijing Municipal Government officials and enterprise managers related to trade and business issues.
Prior to his appointment at the Monterey Institute, Dr. Scalberg was Dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration and Dean of Faculty of the Schools of Business at Fordham University from 1994 to 2001. While at Fordham he repositioned the School from a part-time emphasis (1900 evening students) to a comprehensive MBA Program of 400 full-time and 1200 part-time students while recruiting more than 50 new tenure track faculty for the graduate and undergraduate business programs. His new vision and strategic plan produced first time ever national rankings for the Schools including consistent top 15 rankings for the Part-time MBA program (US News), and the top 50 for full time MBA (Forbes). Dean Scalberg created a portfolio of new international degree options at Fordham, including the Beijing International MBA Program, a joint venture with University of Peking, which has been ranked the number 1 MBA program in China by both Chinese and U.S. business media.

Klaus-Dirk Schmitz is Full Professor of Terminology Studies at Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Germany. His teaching and research activities focus on terminology theory and terminology management as wells as on software localization and computer tools for translators. Numerous articles and books where he acts as author, co-author and editor show his excellent expertise in these fields. Prof. Schmitz has also taken a leadership role in national and international forums e.g. as president of the International Information Centre for Terminology (Infoterm), and chairman of the German Standards Committee on Computer Applications in Terminology.
The formal training of Prof. Schmitz was actually in Computers and Linguistics. He holds a diploma in Computer Science and Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Information Science, both from the University of Saarbruecken. He starts his academic career in ambitious research projects on Machine Translation and Translator’s Workbenches recognizing very soon that it is wise and useful to concentrate more on training potential users of these tools and on developing more application-oriented and user-friendly versions of linguistic software. In 1992 he transferred his appointment from the University of Saarbruecken to the Faculty of Information and Communication Studies in Cologne where he also heads the Institute for Information Management as Managing Director.
Prof. W. Travis Selmier II

W. Travis Selmier II is Co-Director of the Investment Management Academy, and a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor, at Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. His research focuses on the politics of international banking and investments, cultural aspects of international trade and investment, and economic history of financial institutions. He is completing a Ph.D. entitled “The Politics of Cross-border Bank Acquisitions" at Indiana University.
He spent 17 years working in international equities, running one of the 10 largest U.S.-based emerging markets equities funds for most of the 1990's. A bit of an odd duck in investments, his philosophy to investing includes learning as much as possible about target countries’ cultures.
He is a poor, but persistent, linguist, speaking in descending order Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, and bits of 6-8 other languages. He’s traveled to nearly 60 countries and has loved the food, drink and art in every one.
David Serra

This business provides localization services to a wide range of corporate clients. David’s group is responsible for managing every aspect of the customer relationship from on-boarding, to Customer Satisfaction, to Service Level and Revenue targets, to Same Account Revenue Growth.
David has been a subject matter expert in localization for corporate customers for 15 years and has worked extensively on both the client and vendor side of the industry. Prior to joining Xerox, David spent many years working in various Operational and Account Management positions in localization firms as well as within in-house localization divisions of software and retail industries. He began his language career as a German Teacher in Wisconsin as well as spending many years in the book publishing industry. David Smith

Prof. Dr. Frieda Steurs

Frieda Steurs has a PhD in Linguistics and is the Head of Department and Professor in Terminology and Language Technology at Lessius University College. Thanks to her initiative, Lessius opened in 2000 a brand new study center where students and colleagues have access to electronic, on-line and print resources, as well as to new learning methods. This center has two main pillars: CALL, Computer Assisted Language Learning (e-learning) and CAT, Computer Assisted Translation, which focuses mainly on projects for terminology management, language technology, web translation and translation technology. In 2005, she set up a brand new “skills lab”, which co-operates with Hogeschool Zuyd (Maastricht). The skills lab is a simulation of a real-life translation bureau, where the students have the opportunity to work in a near-life situation. Frieda Steurs coordinates research projects both in the private and the public sectors. Recently, a full-fledged terminology management project has been started with Audi Brussels. Frieda Steurs is also the president of ISO-NEN/TC 37, the terminology workgroup within the Dutch standards body. She was the founder and president of NL-TERM, the association of Dutch terminology. At present, she is the president of Coterm, the terminology commission of the Dutch language union. At the same time, Frieda Steurs is an invited professor at the University of Angers (UCO-IPLV) in France and member of the management team of the International Terminology Summer School, where she also gives lectures.

Dr Xiaohua Yang is an associate professor of International Business in the School of Business and Management, University of San Francisco. Dr Yang’s scholarship has centered on firms’ competitive strategies intersected with international institutional environments. She has published and presented numerous papers in international journals, books and conferences in the area of international strategic alliances, internationalization of firms, expatriate management, corporate governance, and foreign market entry strategies. Andrzej Zydroń

Andrzej Zydroń was born in England. Educated in France he started working in IT in 1976. His experience has covered all aspects of computing, with in depth knowledge of Software Engineering, SGML, XML, encoding methodologies and translation memory. Highlights of his career include:
* The design and architecture of the European Patent Office patent data capture system for Xerox Business Services.
* The design and architecture of the Xerox Language Services XTM translation memory system in 1996.
* Author of XML and SGML filters for SDL International's SDLX Translation Suite.
* Assisting the Oxford University Press, the British Council and Oxford University in work on the New Dictionary of the National Biography.
Andrzej Zydroń is a member of the LISA OSCAR Steering Committee. He is the technical architect and editor of the GILT Metrics proposed specification suite, as well as editor of the proposed TBX Link specification. Zydroń also sits on the OASIS technical committees for Translation Web Services, XLIFF and XLIFF segmentation. He is also a W3C invited expert sitting on the W3C ITS technical committee.
As CTO for XML-Intl, he is currently developing the next generation of XML-based text memory systems to reduce authoring and translation costs for documentation. Zydroń is fluent in English, Polish and French.
