Engelrey Abalos
Project Manager, PTSGI

Engelrey Abalos is the Sales Project Manager of the Overseas Department at PTSGI. He is in-charge of developing client business relationship, providing budgets, quality, schedules, software tools, as well as project management. He joined PTSGI in 2002 where he started as an English proofreader for legal documents. Currently, he is the head of the overseas department. He is committed to ensure that client requirements are met rapidly at all times because in doing so, excellent and long term relationships with both clients and PTSGI will be well established. Engel graduated Bachelor of Arts major in Political Science from Centro Escolar University, and completed his Bachelor of Laws (L.l.b.) degree from Far Eastern University, Philippines.
Michael Anobile
Managing Director, LISA

An international businessman with over 25 years experience in the IT sector, Michael Anobile received a Bachelors of Science degree in communications at Syracuse University, and participated in the Masters degree program in political communications at the University of Maryland.
After relocating his family to Switzerland in 1980 to become European Training Manager for Exxon Office Systems, he subsequently held a number of European and Swiss management positions in the IT and language-technology industries, focusing on global business development and marketing.
A founding member of LISA, and the Managing Director from its inception, he is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Association including outreach programs to other standards organizations (E.g., ISO Category A liaison member, IdeAlliance, Unicode, Openi18N, W3C, OASIS, etc.) and government agencies (E.g., US Department of Commerce, the European Union's Directorate General for Translation along with various Asian, Canadian and European language technology and national standards and trade bodies) as well as its international forums, training programs and industry marketing & public relations projects.
Shu-Liang Balzac Chang
Group Manager, Microsoft Corporation

Shu-Liang Balzac Chang is Group Manager at Microsoft Taiwan R&D. His team is responsible for Microsoft Entertainment and Device products' engineering and localization service. How through engineering effort and processes to ensure game title's localization quality and using resources smartly is one of his major focuses since Microsoft launched Xbox to the market. It's to solve how the team can deal with different Developers and Publishers to release more than 30 game projects a year.
Symon Chang

Symon Chang is a Principle Member of Technical Staff at Oracle Corporation, developing Web Services solutions for WebLogic Server. He has eight years experience in developing Web Services solutions. Symon Chang is a frequent speaker on issues relating to on Web Services at international conferences since 2002. He is a voting member of OASIS WS-SX TC, and has participated with various WS standards committees at OASIS, W3C, and WS-I. Prior to Oracle and BEA, he was Sr. Security Architect, implementing WS-Security solutions, at BlueTitan, TIBCO and CommerceOne. He received his MBA Degree from Golden Gate University, and MS Degree from San Jose State University.
Helena Chapman
Program Director, IBM

Helena Shih Chapman is the program director of IBM globalization technology team. She is responsible for the technology, architecture and development strategy of IBM's globalization tooling, which enables IBM offerings' capabilities to meet worldwide customer linguistic needs. Prior to joining IBM globalization leadership team, Helena also oversaw IBM’s internal open source program and managed IBM's software division's customer satisfaction and quality management initiatives. She was the recipient of IBM's outstanding technical award for her work on internationalization support in Sun's JDK 1.1 and subsequently became the development manager for ICU (international component for Unicode). In addition to her professional experiences at IBM, she also held numerous technical lead and development positions at Taligent and Dataware Technologies. She also worked on the Dylan project at Apple’s advanced technology group. Helena received her Ms. in Computer Science from University of Massachusetts in 1992.
Grace Chen

Grace Chen is the founder and CEO of Oceansoft International and Simple Cash International which holds her patent-pending payment software. Ms. Chen is a leader in the knowledge-based outsourcing business in a niche that serves U.S. corporate needs in supply chain, procurement and payment automation.
From 1996 to 2005, she founded and served eCommLink as Chairman and CEO. She built this company from the ground floor to become one of the three most comprehensive stored value payment platforms with processing services to more than 60 banks and several major merchants in the US. Her visionary approach continues to steer eCommLink to be one of the most unique, innovative payment practices in the stored value payment space. She has served in many different capacities for Fortune 100 companies at an executive management level. This vast knowledge and experience has gained her seats on the Boards of several major corporations that serve the Asian markets.
Shumin Chen

Ms. Chen Shumin has extensive experience in translation coordination and terminology management. She has been working with customers in various industries worldwide — aerospace and defence, banking, consumer products, IT, medical and fitness equipment —, helping them with their translation needs and the implementation of Simplified Technical English.
Ms. Chen is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and German. She has a background in Life Sciences and received her BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the National University of Singapore.
Wayne Chiang

Wayne Chiang is a Globalization Services Project Manager at IBM China Development Lab (CDL). Wayne has been leading IBM WebSphere Everyplace and Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Globalization test projects since 2004. Prior to that Wayne worked for three years in IBM Silicon Valley Lab for WebSphere Portal industry solutions and Enterprise Portlet development. He is a certified PMP with PMI and has been involved in all aspects of software globalization, from globalization enablement, Agile globalization test, and ECM & Portal global solution design.
Square Fang
President, PTSGI

Square Fang is the founder of President Translation Services and and an incumbent board chairman of PTSGI. He has been been involved in management of translation services for forty four years. In 1952 he graduated from the Department of Economics at National Taiwan University and began his translation career in 1965 when he established a small translation office that enjoyed steady growth. With its global presence in marketing and outsourcing, PTSGI is proud to be the most efficient and well-scaled translation service in this Asia and currently works in 74 languages.
Mr. Fang is an enthusiastic participant in society and association activities. He has served as a district governor or over one hundred Rotary clubs in Metropolitan Taipei and as a Charter President of Taipei Northgate Rotary Club. His translation career has been enhanced by serving as chairman of the board of Translation & Attestation Association of Taipei for six years and he has also served as Director of the Taiwan Academic Association of Translation and Interpretation. Mr. Fang was appointed by the Ministry of Education three years ago as a member of the Evaluation Committee on translation and foreign language departments for Taiwanese universities and as a committee member to survey certification and appraisal of official and corporate institutes.
Joseph Hsu
Chairman of the Board, Symbio Investment Holdings Company

Joseph Hsu is Chairman of Symbio Investment Holdings Company and was Chairman and CEO of the Symbio Group from 1994 to 2007. Prior to founding Symbio in 1994, he was Executive Vice President of IISI, an IBM JV. He joined the NeoTech Development Corporation (NDC) in 1987, a 100% IBM-funded software and embedded system development company in Taiwan. NDC was the first in Greater China to focus on offshore software development directly with the US clients. NDC developed many of IBM's products, including Net Management and Banking Transaction Security System. Mr. Hsu received his Master's degree in Econometrics from New York University and his Bachelor's degree in Economics from National Taiwan University. He is also on the Board of Directors for a number of software and technology companies in the USA and China.
Sophia Huang

Sophia Huang is the Language Manager for China, Taiwan and Hong Kong at Facebook. She is responsible for success and adoption of Facebook in these countries. Prior, Sophia was the Program Manager for PayPal (an eBay company) Localization team which is renowned for its ability to simship 10+ languages along with the initial feature launch in the base language (US/English). Sophia also held positions related to I18N/L10N at Charles Schwab and Sina.com. Sophia graduated from the Monterey Institute of International Studies with a M.A. in Conference Interpretation.
Dr. Jyh-Sheng Ke
President, Institute for Information Industry (III)

Dr. Jyh-Sheng Ke is currently the Acting President / CEO and Board Member of the Institute for Information Industry (III), Taiwan. In his twenty-five years career at III, Dr. Ke first was responsible for the Chinese computer development, and then has directed the research and development of a wide spectrum of advanced technologies for computer and communications products, led pioneering work in software engineering environment development, multimedia communications technology development, as well as assisted the government in the promotion and development of the National Information Infrastructure and bridging the digital divide. He was the President and CEO of III from year 2003 to year 2006.
In 2005 and 2006, he also served as the Chairman of the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering, Taiwan. In 2007, he was elected as the Chairman of IT-enabled Service Management Association, Taiwan.
Dr. Ke obtained a B.S. Degree in Computer Science and Control Engineering from the National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan and, later, his Masters and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska and University of Illinois, respectively. In 2004, Dr. Ke was elected as a Fellow of Chinese Society for Management of Technology, Taiwan. In 2007, he was awarded as an outstanding alumnus by National Chiao-Tung University.
SeungHwan Lee
Localization Project Manager, Saltlux

SeungHwan Lee is a Localization Project Manager at Saltlux and has separate 4 year-experiences working for the biggest multi-language vendor in the world from 2004. One of his major projects was to localize some manuals for various LCD monitors and their OSD (On Display Screen) UI into up to 30 languages - he still has been handling the other multi-lingual project of digital cameras for Samsung Digital Imaging these days. Also there are many Korean localization projects which he handled, such as Rockwell, Business Objects, Microsoft, Blizzard and so on.
David Liao

Oliver Lin
Director of International Design Exchange Section, Taiwan Design Center (TDC)

Oliver Lin is Director of the International Design Exchange Section at Taiwan Design Center. He is now in charge of the 2011 IDA Congress that will be hosted in Taipei. The International Design Alliance (IDA) is a strategic venture between international organizations involved in design. The project will be defined as a design summit encouraging dialogue between designers and non-designers. This inaugural congress will be a milestone in the history of global design.
Mr. Lin is fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. He has a background in Industrial Design and received his Masters Degree in Design Management from the University of Cincinnati.
Arle Lommel

Arle Lommel has over ten years or experience in document design and localization. Arle is currently Chair of OSCAR, LISA's committee for the development of open standards, and manages LISA’s publications efforts. He has been active with LISA since 1996.
Karl-Johan Lönnroth
Director General, European Commission Directorate - General for Translation (DGT)

Karl-Johan Lönnroth has spent his entire career supporting international cooperation through the European Commission, the OECD, the UN, the ILO and various institutions in the Nordic countries. Prior to being appointed Director-General for Translation in 2004, Lönnroth was Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Employment and Social Affairs at the European Commission. From 1991-1996, he was Director of the Employment Department at the International Labour Office in Geneva. Lönnroth has a Masters Degree in Political Sciences from the University of Helsinki (Finland), an MA from the University of Wisconsin (US) and a diploma from the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (France).
Dirk Meyer
Product Manager, Adobe Systems

Dirk Meyer is the Product Manager for Globalization Technologies at Adobe Systems, based in San Jose, California. In this role within the company's Corporate Product Management, Mr. Meyer provides guidance to Adobe’s product teams on how to improve product functionality in order to make Adobe’s products “world-ready” and able to support a truly global customer base. As the so-called “Web 2.0” technologies have started to make a profound impact on the software business in general, Mr. Meyer is particularly interested in the challenges and opportunities those technologies are presenting in the area of internationalization and how they are affecting development processes and distribution workflows of software companies.
Mr. Meyer's history at Adobe also includes performing work on and researching CJKV fonts and Asian encoding standards as a member of Adobe's Type Department. He was among the first to describe and analyze the Chinese standard GB 18030-2000. In addition, he has played key roles in the successful integration of shared technologies into the Adobe Creative Suite family, working with teams that spanned time zones and cultures.
Mr. Meyer studied in Germany and at Beijing University, China. He holds a masters degree in Chinese Studies and East European History from the University of Tübingen, Germany.
Eric Mou
Vice President, Global Delivery, iSoftStone

Mr. Eric Mou is Vice President for Global Delivery at iSoftStone Information Service Corporation and the General Manager of the Shanghai Branch Office and East China Resource Center (Wuxi). He possesses rich experience in IT, retail, media and communication, particularly in R&D, business development and operations.
Prior to joining iSoftStone, Mr. Mou financed, co-founded and successfully ran Rampage Systems, Inc. in Boston Massachusetts for 14 years. Rampage focused on developing outsourcing sectors in East Europe and Asia-Pacific. He has also led and participated in cross-boarder activities such as VC investment, M&A / JV, business consulting, business development, and service delivering.
Mr. Mou graduated from National Tsing Hua University (BS of Mathematics, Hsinchu, Taiwan). He also studied at University of Massachusetts, Lowell (MS of Math/Computer Science) and Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Mr. Mou currently leads a 1500+ member ITO and BPO service team in mainland China that deals with global clients. Based on this experience, he has expert knowledge on end-to-end resource management, cost and skill arbitrage among 1st-and 2nd-tier cities, and utilizing local government support to rapidly grow outsourcing service businesses.
Hiromi Nakajima
Language Manager, Facebook

Hiromi Nakajima is Language Manager at Facebook. Hiromi is in charge of the Japanese localization of the popular social networking site and manages the Korean and Turkish translation projects. Prior to her current position, she worked at PayPal as Senior Content Manager for Japan, responsible for the English and Japanese content for the Japanese version of the online payment services. Prior to moving to California, she worked in Tokyo as an in-house and freelance translator for Ericsson, Canadian Embassy and NTT.
She has an MA in Translation from Monterey Institute of International Studies and a BA in English from Sophia University in Tokyo.
Dr. Minako O’Hagan
Senior Lecturer, Dublin City University

Dr Minako O'Hagan is Senior Lecturer in the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies and a member of the Centre for Translation and Textual Studies at Dublin City University. Her research interest includes computer-aided translation, virtual reality, localisation and globalisation of Japanese popular culture, including anime and video games. She is the author of The Coming Industry of Teletranslation (O'Hagan, 1996) and co-author of Translation-mediated Communication in a Digital World (O'Hagan & Ashworth, 2002).
Youngmin Radochonski

She has been involved in various localization projects as an engineer and a program manager for 17 years. Frank Rojas
Globalization Manager, IBM
Frank Rojas is a member of IBM’s Globalization Team. He oversees translation technology, standards, and processes across all of IBM and is responsible for IBM’s Translation Process. He serves as an evangelist for integrating the business process management (BPM) services that drive multi-cultural solutions throughout IBM. Frank started as a software engineer with IBM and moved into globalization in the 1990’s when he was on assignment in Japan. He helped developed IBM’s Japanese input methods and Complex Text Layout for CDE/Motif/X-Open and worked on X-Windows internationalization. Frank then managed all translation services for Tivoli products, setting up a set of localization service center in Taiwan, before moving to the IBM Globalization Team.
Dale Schultz
Globalization Test Architect, IBM

Dale Schultz is the Globalization Test Architect in the IBM Globalization Leadership Team and has been involved in globalization software for 17 years. He has worked in South Africa, Germany and the USA.
When he is not delving into subjects such as code pages, time zones and globalization test issues he can be found working on his model train layout, taking photographs, making biltong or camping with mosquitoes.
Sam Shen
Senior Consultant and Professional Analyst, Institute for Information Industry (III)

Mr. Shen is responsible for managing business development and consulting services at the Institute for Information Industry (III)’s Market Intelligence & Consulting (MIC) Institute. He also acts as Senior Industry Consultant, providing consultation to both governmental agencies and private enterprises. Mr. Shen has more than 17 years of experience in the IT industry. He first came to MIC in 1991, researching software and information service industries. During his eleven years with MIC and other divisions of III, Mr. Shen lead several major projects helping the government formulate and implement its industry development policy for the domestic software industry. In 2000, he went on to start his own venture capital business, successfully raising two funds focusing on software and IC design-related industries, with a total of USD$23 million under management. Mr. Shen rejoined MIC as Deputy General Director in 2004. Mr. Shen holds a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) degree with concentration in Public Information System Management from Indiana University.
John Shen
Executive of Globalization Services, IBM

John Shen is currently the Executive of Globalization Services, IBM China Development Laboratory. He is located in Taipei and leading a team of over 400 people, across Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City, to provide comprehensive end-to-end globalization services to all IBM software brands and external customers for their products and solutions.
John has been with IBM since 1981, with rich management experience in development and testing of middleware software products, industry solutions and globalization projects. In his previous role, he was the Executive of WebSphere Solutions Development in Beijing. He is also the co-founder of China Development Laboratory back in 1999, which has become one of the largest software laboratories in both IBM and China now. His international experience also includes serving as workstation project manager in IBM Yamato Laboratory, Japan for three years.
John graduated from National Taiwan University majoring in Electrical Engineering. He speaks English, Japanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese.
Nancy Tao
Country Manager, SDL International

Ms. Tao is country manager of SDL TRADOS Technologies. She is responsible for the strategic business development in division of Greater China, with direct focus on growing units and revenue in the corporations and LSP markets. Ms. Tao will also be responsible for the strategic growth in the SDL TRADOS Certification Program, SDL TRADOS LSP Program and SDL TRADOS University Program.
Nancy Tao joined SDL in 2006; previously she has over eight years of experience in working in IT markets with highly recognized brand names in China. Her previous roles with IBM and Lenovo have included marketing activities, building sales channels, direct sales to corporations and governmental bodies.
Leonie Troy

Leonie graduated from ITB (Institute of Technology Blanchardstown) in 2007 with a Bachelors Degree (Honours) in Electronic and Computer Engineering. She started her Masters by research at ITB in September 2007 under the supervision of Dr. Matt Smith and Mr Richard Gallery. The title of the project is “Mobile Phone Game Localisation”, which investigates methodologies for mobile phone game localisation. This project is funded by ITB and builds on earlier research carried out by SECASE (Software Engineering CASE Studies) project. SECASE was funded by the European Union's Leonardo da Vinci programme.

Until November 2006, Dion Wiggins was Vice President and Research Director for Gartner based in Hong Kong. Dion Wiggins is an experienced IT industry analyst, a well-known pioneer of the Asian Internet Industry and a respected innovator. In 1993 Dion founded one of the first Asian Internet Services Providers and was also founder of The ActiveX Factory, where he was recipient of the Chairman's Commendation Award presented by Microsoft's Bill Gates for the best showcase of software developed in the Philippines. The US Government has recognized Dion as being in the top 5% of his field worldwide and is a former holder of a US O1 Extraordinary Ability Visa.
Dr. Frans Wijma

Dr. Frans Wijma has a background in electrical engineering and linguistics.
He has been working as a consultant with customers in various industries worldwide and is widely regarded as a leading expert in Simplified Technical English, documentation standards, aviation documentation and multilingual technical documentation.
In addition, he is a regular speaker at language and industry events, fluent in 10 languages and a private pilot.
